Welcome and General Information
It is our pleasure to invite you to the forthcoming 11th European Symposium on Polymer Blends in Donostia - San Sebastian which will be held in the Kursaal Congress Center from the 25th - 28th March, 2012. This international conference center is placed very close to the sea and the old city of Donostia - San Sebastian and provides a unique opportunity to combine participation in the sessions, and discover the typical ‘pintxos and wine/beer’ combination.
The Conference will take place in the tradition of successful and stimulating meetings in the series. Previous Symposia were organised in Bruges (1984 and 2005), Strasbourg (1987), Cambridge (1990), Capri (1993), Maastricht (1996), Mainz (1999), Lyon (2002), Palermo (2007), and Dresden (2010). Researchers from Universities, Institutes and Industry not only from Europe, but also from all around the world attended those Symposia. A high number of young participants were always present and emphasis was given to poster sessions with lively discussions. Reviews were reported by plenary and keynote speakers, but also contributed talks were presented at high level. The Symposia can truly be considered to be outstanding events in the field of polymer blends.
The 11th Symposium will be organized by the Group ‘Materials + Technologies’ and Polymat Institute at Donostia - San Sebastian and hosted by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The Symposium is intended to be the meeting place for academic researchers and industrial experts, bringing together fundamental and application related topics. In particular, we encourage young researchers to present their work.
The most important aspects and recent developments of blends, alloys, and composites will be covered. This includes both fundamental research and application related product developments.
Selected invited speakers will contribute to offer a complete program with several plenary lectures, keynotes, many oral presentations and a carefully selected number of posters.
We hope that we can welcome you to the pleasant city of Donostia - San Sebastian and that you will actively participate in the Symposium.
We want to encourage the participation of both academic and industrial specialists, to exchange ideas and discuss perspectives in the field of Polymer Blends and Nanostructured Mixtures, to contribute for new developments and close cooperation among scientific groups and companies. The local organizing committee will be proud to meet you in Donostia - San Sebastian.
